Read all instructions before starting any work.
1. It is suggested to lower or completely remove the spare tire from under the vehicle. This will help in the removal of the original equipment (OE) exhaust system and with the installation of the DynoMax exhaust kit.
2. Remove the existing exhaust system assembly from the vehicle. Lubricate the rubber isolators with WD-40, or a similar product, to aid in removing the metal rod hangers. The OE turbo down pipe may have to be cut into two pieces for easy removal. If your truck came with a catalytic converter, do not discard. You will need to reinstall this later.
3. Reusing the OE clamp at the turbocharger outlet connection, install DynoMax front down pipe 53445. (You may find it easier to install if two people complete this task.) Snug the inlet clamp but do not fully tighten. Install the DynoMax rear down pipe 52306. See the system diagram included in these instructions. Use a 3.50″ band clamp to connect this pipe to the outlet of 53445. Snug the bolts on the band clamp but do not fully tighten.
4. If so equipped, reinstall your OE catalytic converter. If your vehicle did not come with a converter, install DynoMax exhaust pipe 53446 using gasket 31622 and bolt kit 36426. Make sure to insert the metal rod hanger, on the OE converter or DynoMax exhaust pipe, into the rubber isolator on the chassis. See the diagram included in these instructions.
5. Install DynoMax tail pipe 55142 by inserting the metal rod hanger into the rubber isolator at the rear of the RH frame rail. Temporarily support the inlet end of the tail pipe.
6. Install DynoMax muffler 17538 and rear muffler hanger 36363. Use a 4″ saddle clamp at the outlet of the muffler to connect the tail pipe and the hanger. Insert the two metal rod hangers, on 36263, into the rubber isolators above the rear of the muffler.
7. Now, measure the distance between the outlet of the catalytic converter, or exhaust pipe 53446, and the inlet of the 17538 muffler. Be sure to add length for 2″ minimum overlap on both ends. (If reusing the OE catalytic converter, you will need to install adapter 51018 to the outlet of the converter.) See diagram.
8. Transfer the length measurement onto extension pipe 55144. Cut-off any pipe length not required on 55144 by cutting the 4.00″ OD sized (outlet) end that connects to the 17538 muffler inlet. Be sure not to cut off length on 4.00″ ID sized end.
9. Install clamp-on rod hangers 36368 and 36405 as required. See system diagram for general location of the hangers. The location of these hangers will vary depending on the truck’s wheelbase length. Seal the 55144 extension pipe connection using the 4″ band clamps. Snug the clamp bolts but do not fully tighten at this time.
10.Install DynoMax stainless steel tip 36365 with a 4″ band clamp. Position the band clamp with the fasteners on the top.
11.Beginning at the inlet end, align the exhaust system components and fully tighten all clamps.
12.Please see system diagram on back page of these instructions.
