The ECU is located inside the left side of the dash, behind instrument cluster. You gain access to
it by removing three pieces of the dash from the top side.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Take care to not slip and hit the windshield with any of your tools or the
ECU itself. The lower portion of the windshield is much more fragile than the top.
To get inside the dash, you first have to remove the top curved center cover. No tools are
required. It is held in place by several clips on the under side of the cover. To remove it, you will
need to slide it toward the windshield about an inch. Pushing down to gain a grip, while pushing
away from yourself, is usually enough to slide the cover. Once slid, lift upwards to remove.
The driver side dash cover comes off next. The cover is held in place by two Torx T15 screws and
several clips on the under side of the panel. There are three screws at the front of the dash.
Remove the center and left screw. Note there isn’t much room between the screw and the
windshield. A 1/4″ drive socket with a Torx T15 bit works well here. Once the screws are
removed, remove the panel by pulling up on it. It snaps down into place via a number of clips on
the leading and trailing edge, so pulling up starting at the right and moving to the left works well.
At the very left you can see two protrusions that hold the left side in place.
Beneath the upper driver dash cover is another plastic cover. This cover comes off next. It is
attached with six Torx T15 screws, which once removed allow the cover to be pulled out with a
little tugging. There are no clips holding it so you can tug away.
The ECU is connected to the wiring harness with two large cables. Notice that the outer edge of
each wiring connector to the ECU has a “T” shaped handle. Pull outwards on these handles to
release the connectors from the ECU. Gently pull the ECU free of the 3 plastic clips that hold it in
its bracket.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Please follow the initial start-up steps detailed on included
spec sheet.
