I have a 99 chevy s 10 with a 4.3 liter v6, it has a throttle body. I need to figure out how to check the fuel pressure and make sure the fuel pump is what is bad.
- Get a fuel pressure gauge then look on the fuel rail for the shrader valve. The fuel rail is where your fuel injectors are connected to.
- Should be a nipple on the fuel injector rail. It will have what looks like a metal valve stem cop on it. Screws off. From there find a gage from an auto parts store. Some check engine light scanners with extras on them, will tell you what fuel preasure is. auto X ray is one example.
- Pull of the supply line that goes into the body and put a fuel pressure gauge on it otherwise take off the line while car is running if it shoots out gas chances are your fuel pump is working change your fuel filter first though if it rumbles.
- Also check the fuel pressure regulator it could be bad as well and dumping to much fuel back to the tank and not letting it build up pressure.
