Mazda Protege Apexcone DDE Plus Installation Instructions

April 28th, 2010 · No Comments

In order to install DDE Plus into the Mazda Protégé 5, there are several steps that will be required. None of them is particularly difficult although it may appear so in the beginning. The actual work time to perform the installation is about 4 hours. But with breaks, glue set-up time and the tendency to need extra time to study the instructions, we recommend that an entire day be set aside to complete the job. While it can be done comfortably in a morning or afternoon, rushing or not allowing time for potential delays can make the job more difficult than it needs to be. Set aside a Saturday or Sunday to complete the job. Start in the morning and work at it at a moderate pace throughout the day and you will be quite satisfied with the job and not feel drained by the time you are done.

Step 1. Remove Bumper
In order to get the headlights out of the car it is easiest to remove the bumper entirely. While not required, not removing the bumper will probably make the job take longer and it will certainly be more frustrating and maybe lead to a few scraped knuckles etc. Please take the time to remove the bumper.
Start by removing the grill.
While you are still in this area, go ahead and remove these headlight mounting bolts.
Next, remove the inner mounting bolts
If possible remove the tires to gain access to the wheel well liner attachment screws and detach the wheel well liner from the bumper, facia and under panel.
