Mazda Protege Carbon Fiber A Pillar Cover Set Installation Instructions

October 21st, 2009 · No Comments

INSTALL GAUGE COMPONENTS BY USING INSTRUCTIONS THAT WERE SUPPLIED WITH THE GAUGE.
1. Begin by removing the A pillar trim by locating upper seam and prying outward. (Do not use tool to pry) With A pillar pulled out, lift upwards and remove completely.
2. With your stock A pillar now removed you will need to drill a small hole in it to feed the rubber hose through to the gauge. (We suggest drilling the hole in the same area where the gauge pod will be covering.)
3. After installing the gauge hardware (see gauge instructions), run the rubber hose up through the metal firewall.
4. Slide the rubber hose through the hole you drilled in the stock A pillar. Next, place the A pillar cover over the stock pillar and pull the rubber hose out through the gauge hole.
5. Connect the hose to the gauge and slide the gauge in the hole. (No retaining hardware is needed to hold gauge in place.)
NOTE: You may have small fibers around the pod hole, once gauge is installed you will no longer be able to see these fibers.
6. Reinstall A pillar trim by inserting bottom section between the frame, dashboard, and weather stripping. Position the pillar based on the location of the upper seam. When in position push trim back into place at the same time use credit card or finger to ease rubber flap up over your new pillar to help hold into place. Use force to snap mounting clips in securely. *NOTE: If you are having trouble reinstalling the A pillar make sure the mounting clips are lining up correctly. Also it may take a little shifting before the bottom of the A pillar slides into place.
7. To install the A pillar passanger side begin by removing the pillar trim by locating the upper seam and prying outward. With pillar pulled out, lift upwards and remove completely. Place carbon fiber cover over your stock pillar and re-install by inserting bottom section between the frame, dashboard, and weather stripping. Position the pillar based on the location of the upper seam. When in position, push trim back into place at the same time use credit card or finger to ease rubber glap up over your new pillar to help hold it into place. Use force to snap mounting clips in securely.
See NOTE: in line 6 if you are having trouble re-installing.
