The installation of this kit allows the bed extender to function with the roll-up cover kits #317 & #318.
Step 1: Open tailgate and remove bed extender cage from carriage brackets. Measure and record width of cage. Use #20 torx wrench to loosen retaine clips on tubes. Pry loose and slide telescopic tubes together 4 inches narrower than original recorded width. Retighten torx bolts. See ILLUSTRATION 1 Set bed extender off to side for now.
Step 2: Remove bed extender carriage bracket by loosening thumbwheel and sliding forward until out of utili-track. See ILLUSTRATION 2. Disassemble carriage bracket, insert spacer tube and reassemble as shown in ILLUSTRATION 3. Make sure to turn the long bolt completely through the nut in the carriage block AND TIGHTEN. Repeat procedure for both carriage brackets.
Step 3: Replace carriage brackets, starting at front of box and slide to rear. Install bed extender cage to brackets. Note, the stop block at rear of channel need to be tight to prevent bed extender from sliding too far back.(ILLUSTRATION 4) Rotate bed extender to set on tailga e and adjus safety straps ( ILLUSTRATION 5) to allow latch into tailga e latches. Check bed extender for proper operation and check all bolts to ensure they are tight.
